Services & Solutions
ASL Interpreter
At Deafinitive Solutions, we are committed to providing professional, reliable, and culturally responsive American Sign Language (ASL) interpreting services that ensure equitable communication access for Deaf, DeafBlind, and Hard of Hearing individuals. Our qualified interpreters facilitate clear, accurate, and effective communication while upholding the highest standards of professionalism, confidentiality, and ethical practice.
We recognize that every assignment is unique. That's why we carefully match interpreters based on the communication preferences of the consumers, the complexity of the setting, and the specialized knowledge required for each assignment. Our interpreters are skilled in adapting to a variety of communication styles, including ASL, Pidgin Signed English (PSE), Signed Exact English (SEE), tactile communication, and other individualized language preferences.
Our interpreters are committed to facilitating communication that is accurate, impartial, and accessible while respecting the linguistic and cultural diversity of the Deaf community. We understand the importance of not only conveying language but also fostering meaningful communication that allows all participants to engage fully and confidently.
At Deafinitive Solutions, we believe communication access is more than a service, it is a fundamental right. Through exceptional interpreting services and a client-centered approach, we help organizations create inclusive environments where everyone has equal access to information, opportunities, and meaningful participation.
CoNavigator
At Deafinitive Solutions, our highly trained CoNavigators (CNs) provide essential access to information that may otherwise be unavailable to individuals who are DeafBlind. Formerly known as Support Service Providers (SSPs), CoNavigators serve as a trusted communication and guided assistance that promote independence and informed decision-making.
CoNavigators work alongside the individual who is DeafBlind, providing real-time access to the visual aspects of everyday life that cannot be conveyed through interpeting alone. Whether navigating community events, attending appointments, participating in educational or workplace settings, shopping, or engaging in social activitivites, our CoNavigators help bridge the gap between the individual and their environment while always respecting the person's autonomy, preferences, and independence.
Unlike interpreters, CoNavigators are not there to make decisions or speak on behalf of the individual. Instead, they provide objective visual and environmental information, allowing each individual to make informed choices and fully participate in their community.
Access to CoNavigator services remains limited across the United States despite the profound impact these services have on the lives of DeafBlind individuals. At Deafinitive Solutions, we are committed to expanding access by providing skilled, compassionate professionals who foster independence, confidence, meaningful community engagement, and enhanced quality of life.
Interpreting Support for DeafBlind
At Deafinitive Solutions, we believe effective communication is built on individualized access. Our DeafBlind Interpreters (DBIs) are specially trained to provide communication that goes beyond interpreting spoken or signed language by incorporating critical environmental and visual information. This comprehensive approach enables DeafBlind individuals to fully engage in conversations, navigate their surroundings, and participate confidently in a wide range of settings.
Our DBIs tailor each assignment to the unique communication preferences and access needs of the individual. They thoughtfully adjust signing space, interpreter positioning, pacing, lighting, and visual contrast to optimize communication. They are also skilled in presenting information in ways that are clear, meaningful, and accessible, while maintaining the highest standards of professionalism, accuracy, and cultural competence.
The DeafBlind community represents a broad spectrum of hearing and visual disabilities. Some individuals have low vision or central vision loss, while others experience restricted peripheral vision, such as those with Usher syndrome. Others may have little or no functional vision. Hearing levels also vary, with some individuals using residual hearing, hearing aids, or cochlear implants, while others communicate primarily through sign language.
Because communication needs are highly individualized, Deafinitive Solutions provides interpeters who are proficient in a variety of DeafBlind communication methods, including:
- Close-vision interpreting
- Tactile American Sign Language (TASL)
- One handed tactile signing
- Two handed tactile signing
- Protactile language and communication support
- Adapted communication strategies based on each client's preferred mode of access
Our goal is to ensure every DeafBlind client receives equitable access to communication, information, and their environment. By matching qualified DeafBlind Interpreters with each client's specific needs, Deafinitive Solutions delivers services that promote independence, inclusion, and full participation in educational, medical, legal, workplace, government, and community settings.
At Deafinitive Solutions, accessibility is more than a service, it is our commitment to creating communication access that is individualized, respectful, and empowering.
